Long Week

What a long week I have had. As you know, it was Memorial Day here in the States. I took a moment to think of my dear family members who have served or are serving our country. That would be three of my four great-grandfathers (two Navy and one Marine, WWII), my great-grandmother (WAVE, WWII), my grandfather (Army, Vietnam), and of course my Aunt Shanni, who is in the service right now.

The things I wear for you humans.
I also read an article on canine servicemembers. Neighborhood squirrel patrol is one thing, but bomb patrol in a war zone--that is bravery.
My parents, facing a house that needs work and a couple of free days, spent the week painting, drywalling, painting some more, and cleaning up raccoon poop. I was not allowed in this building, which is still a non-dog-friendly construction zone, so I patrolled the yard and flushed out a chipmunk nest. Oh yes! These neighborhood creatures have no idea what they are in for!

Plotting my ground-dwelling mammal takeover.

For a canine who spends much of his city life comfortably arranged on a bed indoors, the outdoor life has taken a little getting used to. So I have been recuperating at home.

We are going on a day trip tomorrow to celebrate a rather important event. Father is turning an age that is divisible by 2, 3, 5, 6, 10, and 15 (and of course itself and 1, but that goes without saying). So I must continue to rest, because the place we are going has a lot of space for a hound to roam. And you know how I like to roam.

Have a wonderful weekend!
