Journey

What a journey father and I had the other day!

This photo is actually from the day I moved to Virginia--with my new parents!
My, that was almost a year ago.

We went on our morning walk, as usual. Father was a little groggy but for him, at any time before 9 a.m., this is fairly normal. As we approached the door of our apartment building, father began patting his pockets furiously. I did not notice this--I was watching for the Evil Feline I had seen three days earlier behind the 7-Eleven. But when he burst forth with several choice invectives, I had to take notice. It appeared that he had left his housekeys....in the house.
Uh oh. Evidently the only spare set of keys was with mother, at her office approximately 5 miles away. After a period of thought, we set off for D.C.
Here is our walk. It took around 2 hours each way. There were so many smells to smell.

We reached the office and I was pleased to see mother come outside with a bowl of water. Sitting in the sun proved more relaxing than I thought; I closed my eyes briefly and fell asleep sitting up.
Father and I rested for a half hour, and then turned back home. Since our journey took us down Pennsylvania Avenue, we passed by the White House. I had never been there. As you probably know, the First Canid is a Portuguese water dog named Bo Obama. He seems to be a very accessible public figure--he had left notes* all along the White House lawn fence. Although the fence featured a great many notes from other dogs, I could easily pick out those left by Bo. They had a whiff of the campaign trail about them for sure--he must have been working with a publicist recently. I left my own note saying hello and continued on.
Was I ever tired! When we finally returned home--after five hours total of walking and a steep climb up Lee Highway--it was all I could do to eat breakfast and collapse in a heap on the floor. What a day!
